A one day school holiday activity in all things filmmaking. You’ll learn to professionally write, direct and shoot a short film.

For emerging performers, writers and storytellers

Year 7-12 students with an interest in writing, performing or directing are invited to strengthen their storytelling muscles by taking part in this one day filmmaking workshop. Using professional filmmaking equipment, you will learn the fundamentals of telling dramatic, engaging stories by creating a short film.

The Day

Upon arrival, you’ll meet the industry professionals who’ll be your mentors for the day. Before you do any filming, they’ll take you through all the equipment, show you how to approach writing a scene and the way the industry plans a film.

After a fully catered lunch, you’ll then work as a team to write the script, plan the shots, decorate and light the set - before shooting a full short film. Each participant will receive guidance and support from our Mentors who are there to ensure you leave with the skills and confidence to tackle your own projects.

The film will be edited live on the day by the group, meaning you’ll be able to view your finished work before the day ends.

Screen Clubs is a not-for-profit organisation. All proceeds go towards fostering young creatives and establishing local ‘screen clubs’ in communities across Victoria.
