About safety
Our Child Safety Policy applies to every staff member, volunteer and contractor at Screen Clubs and includes the following elements:
All staff and volunteers must maintain a valid Working With Children Check
All staff and volunteer must undergo training in child safety prior to employment
No staff member or volunteer is appointed until they undergo a satisfactory police check.
No staff member or volunteer is appointed until they undergo an extensive reference check, including contacting past employers not listed on resumes.
Screen Clubs undertakes an review of its child safety policies and procedures annually, or following any reportable incident.
We have worked hard to ensure that our policies, procedures and practices mean that we can provide the safest environment possible for teenagers and young people. We have a strong commitment to our Child Safety Policy. Our commitment also extends to working with schools, teens and parents to create a culture of communication and accountability.
We recruit, train and support our staff and volunteers to care for the teenagers and young people across all our programs, clubs and services. We ensure that our staff and volunteers always act in the best interests of teenagers and young people, take all reasonable steps to keep them safe, and to promptly respond to any concern regarding the safety or development of teens in our care.
It takes more than a great policy
Child safety is always our number one priority. Communication is key and accountability is paramount. As such, we have made reporting any incident as easy as possible.
What to do if you’re concerned about someone’s safety:
If you have any immediate concerns for someone's safety, call 000 first and notify us second;
Tell someone. This could be our casual staff member on site, a parent or anyone in our management team. If the situation doesn’t allow for this, you can;
Report online either anonymously or not.
